On New Year's Eve one of the many images that popped up on my Facebook feed was a clever design merging the word Hope with the year 2021.
This image is one I hope we will all cling on to as, yet again, we navigate the murky waters of Lockdown.
It is enormously frustrating that lives are still "on hold", that friends are still shrunk to boxed faces on a screen and our voices cannot be joined together in harmony as we lift them in song.
But, as the famous story of Pandora recounts, having unleashed such despair and having lost so much, there was still the small voice of Hope remaining at the end of it all.
So, let us be that voice of Hope this season; sharing the joy of music with one another and with others as we sing "together" - rising above despair, depression and division and uniting us all, as only the gift of Music can.
Some of the songs in our "Voices of Hope" collection are:
You'll never walk alone (Rodgers and Hammerstein)
When you Believe (Stephen Schwartz)
Bridge over troubled water (Simon and Garfunkel)
Here comes the sun (George Harrison)
Be Thou my Vision (Traditional, arr. Shackley)
Thank you for continuing to be part of this journey together.
