As we approach the end of the Summer holidays, it's time to take stock of all we've managed to achieve this year, despite the raft of challenges we've faced.
Many choirs have shut down during Covid, but I am so delighted that our choir has soldiered on through the stormy seas of physical disconnect and technical minefields.
So far we have collaborated on two virtual performances which have been shared far and wide. I am thrilled with the response and ironically, the scope of reach around the world via this platform, allowing many who would never hear us sing, the access to our lovely sounds.
Below are the two videos we produced together prior to the Summer break. (The third is in the pipeline... watch this space!)
The songs were chosen by the choir members themselves as favourites which they felt confident performing in order to showcase their strengths. I'm sure you will agree that the smiles and energy are as lovely as the music.
Moving on into a new term, it is obvious that we will have to continue with our virtual rehearsals and performances for some time yet. How long for is anyone's guess. However, there are indications from musical and choral organisations that structured, risk-assessed meetings CAN be started in a limited capacity in the near future. As we use the Methodist chapel in the village for our rehearsals and that building is currently closed, we will have to continue as we are (online) for the time being. It is vital that when we do move (however tentatively) towards meeting together again in person, that we follow the protocols and that the choir members are comfortable with the arrangements.

I hope that these articles will provide useful fuel for debate. Please feel free to contact me to share your thoughts.
In the mean time, may I thank you all once again for your continued support and enthusiasm and I will see you on our regular Tuesday Zooms as well as via a new set of online rehearsals beginning Friday 5th September.
With very best wishes to you all
Vanessa
